More than 1,000 new jobs in Olsztynek will be created in the long term
Zalando’s dedicated shopping club Zalando Lounge officially opened its first international fulfillment center in Olsztynek, Poland. With a size of 130,000 sqm, the site will serve the growing customer base of Zalando Lounge, which currently has more than 15 million members across 13 European markets.
The site Zalando celebrated its roofing ceremony, while first operations started in early March 2019. The Olsztynek fulfillment center is equipped with two five-story high “picktowers,” where several million items can be stored. Along with the installed automation technologies, such as sorters that match single articles to orders, Europe’s biggest so-called “Optimus” outbound sorter will direct orders to its respective delivery destination. In addition, an area will be dedicated to the Home & Living assortment to process their delivery even more efficiently. The Olsztynek site is managed by Fiege e-Com North and already provides 500 jobs to the region. Long-term, Fiege e-Com North expects to increase staff to up to over 1,000 employees.
