The Portrait of Marti
Christoph Marti is a Swiss based portrait and fine-art photographer. He does not come from a fashion conscious family. However, Switzerland has built up a small fashion imperium. He became known for his black and white portrait and fine-art photography and works for major magazines around the world. Initially a chef, he turned to photography in 2014. With his great passion for studio photography, he has built various studios. Marti also worked with topmodels like Papis Loveday, Timea Birkner and many more and had his first of two fashionshow in 2016.He became famous with his portraits and fine-art photographs for magazines like Vogue Italia, Vulkan Magazine, Bello, Faces Magazine or Vanity Teen. From 2016 on, he worked as an independent photographer for various magazines, in particular based in Zürich. Marti also worked as speaker for companies like PhaseOne. («Stand out» Photographic Forum) Marti publishes besides the work for third magazines, a own magazine in Switzerland and Paris.
We met Marti in Paris and asked him a few questions: As a photographer, editor in chief and fashion designer is Marti one of our magazine ambassadors.How do you as a photographer make sure that the thing, person or landscape you want to shoot looks the way you want it to? "For me, the first thing - I don't shoot landscapes. For me, it's a bit boring to capture pictures without emotions. I need to talk with the thing I'm shooting with. For me it's great to communicate with different peoples and to bring them in the right positions. I love to see emotions in a picture - it's why I'm a portrait photographer. I want to read the eyes of my models."From your point of view, what makes a good picture? "It's up to the viewer. It's my style - for me, I like what I do. But don't want to make pictures for everybody. You like it or you don't - there are so many photographers arround the world - you will find the right style!" How do you describe the style you shoot? "My style. I love to do pictures you're looking in beautiful eyes or see great dresses or sets. It's really hard to describe my style. My style is my style and the best way is, to check my website or my portfolio" Why is nowhere how old you are? "I'm not an actor - I'm working with my pictures and not myself" Why are you a fashiondesigner and editor in chief of the Marti Magazine? "I love to do things I like. I don't need a lot of holidays and things like that - I only need to do the things I love." Thanks really much for this quick interview with us!
